Alcott, Amy S.
Golf
b. Feb. 22, 1956, Kansas City, MO
Joining the LPGA tour shortly after her nineteenth birthday, Alcott won the third tournament she entered, the 1975 Orange Blossom Classic, setting a record for the fastest career win. She was named the tour's Rookie of the Year.
Her first major victory was in the 1979 Peter Jackson (now du Maurier) Classic. The following year she won the U. S. Women's Open and averaged 71.51 strokes per round to claim the Vare Trophy. Alcott's third major tournament win came in the Nabisco Dinah Shore in 1983. She won that event again in 1988 and 1991.
Alcott set a tournament record of 65 for one round in winning the 1984 Lady Keystone Open, and she tied JoAnne Carner's tour record by winning at least one tournament in twelve straight years. In 1988, she became the third woman golfer to pass $2 million in career earnings.
She now has 29 tour victories and is tenth all-time with $3,261,334 in winnings.
