Morris, Betty (Mrs. Davenport)
Bowling
b. May 10, 1948, Sonora, CA
The woman bowler of the decade for the 1970s, Morris won the 1973 WPBA National, the 1977 Women's Open, the WIBC all-events in 1976 and 1979, and the WIBC singles in 1979 and 1980.
Morris was named bowler of the year in 1974, when she entered fifteen tournaments, won three, and finished second in eight others to earn $30,037, a record at the time. She was again bowler of the year and top money winner with $23,802 in 1977.
After a long slump during the 1980s, which she attributed to the fact that she was working too hard at her real estate business, Morris returned to her previous form in 1987, when she earned $55,095, the second highest ever at the time, and she was selected bowler of the year for the third time.
Morris has won 17 tournaments. She's the only woman ever to have bowled two perfect 300 games on the same day, on June 2, 1976, when she set a six-game record of 1,546 in the BPAA Women's Open.
